The brief
What itneeded to do
A school needs to speak to two audiences at once: prospective families looking in, and current families who need news, forms and a way to reach the school. It also handles learner and family information, so security could not be an afterthought.
What we built
Under the hood
Public website
Academics, admissions, sport, student life, news with embedded video, a filterable photo gallery and a forms hub with downloadable documents.
Family portal
Families sign in to see linked learners, send messages and request meetings with a date picker.
Control centre
Staff publish news and events, manage families and staff accounts, and work through message, meeting and contact-request inboxes.
Site settings
Super admins change site-wide settings themselves, with roles separating what each staff member can do.
Security
Row-level security, a strict content security policy, AES-256-GCM encryption of sensitive fields, hashed backup codes, a mandatory first password change and a security log.
Quality
Optimised photography, automated end-to-end tests on desktop and mobile, and a POPIA review of how personal information is handled.
